Petroineos Trading Ltd is a joint venture between Ineos and PetroChina and was established in 2011. We are one of Europe's leading international integrated energy trading companies. The key commodities traded by Petroineos include crude oil, refined products and power and emissions. Trading activity is underpinned by investment assets; namely two refineries, oil terminals, vessels and storage facilities.

The company's 3 key functions are:

1) Supplying the JV and PetroChina refineries with crude oil

2) Arranging the selling and distribution of the Products that are produced from the refinery

3) Third party trading



The PetroChina International (London) trading business is co-located in central London and shares all of the support services of the Petroineos trading business. PetroChina International (London) trades LNG, gas, power and derivative instruments.



We are looking for enthusiastic, intelligent and pro-active students who are currently studying at university or who have recently graduated to join our Legal and Compliance Summer Internship Programme.

As part of our Summer Internship in London, you will join the Legal department and contribute to the team's success through an assigned project to add real commercial value.



Our paid internship programme provides an opportunity to build a valuable network, as well as developing an understanding of the skills needed to succeed in a commodities trading environment, through hands-on projects and constructive feedback. In addition, the internship programme will provide you with an insight into how a trading business operates and the role that the Legal and Compliance team play within the business.

Key Responsibilities

Learn about the full extent of our trading portfolio and how this is managed across all of our ETRMs, as well as learning about the different types of counterparty risk Conduct the necessary reviews of the counterparty relationships to mitigate risk for the business Help to ensure we only have counterparties set up in our systems who we have active business relationships with Check counterparty activity across all of our ETRMs and compile reports on counterparty activity Help to develop more efficient methods of obtaining counterparty information across systems Support the wider Compliance and Legal team with ad hoc tasks and projects as required

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Strong IT skills and an ability to learn quickly Experience in static data management preferable Degree in business management, economics, legal or similar field is beneficial but not essential Active participation in relevant societies will be viewed positively Appreciation of Commodity Trading will be viewed positively Proactive, inquisitive nature with the ability to work independently
