As a Summer Youth Worker, you will plan and deliver holiday activities for the summer holidays for children aged 5-11, who live in the parishes of Boltons, Caldbeck, Castle Sowerby, Ireby & Uldale, Mungrisdale,?Sebergham & Welton and Westward & Rosley.
In this role you will play a vital role in supporting and empowering children within the community. Your primary focus will be to create a safe and engaging environment where youth can thrive, develop their skills, and build positive relationships.
Responsibilities
To work alongside the Youth Co-ordinator to plan activities
To deliver planned activities whilst also being flexible to meet the needs of children
Keep children engaged with good quality activities including arts, crafts, indoor and outdoor games, sports and bush crafts
To supervise and keep children safe and conduct daily registers and safety briefings
To liaise with parents and carers when they drop off and pick up children
Keep informed of children's needs through liaison with the Youth Co-ordinator and parents/carers
To liaise regularly with the Youth Co-ordinator and raise issues and concerns in a timely manner
Follow safeguarding and emergency procedures and report concerns immediately to NFG's Safeguarding Lead.
To follow health and safety requirements including conducting risk assessments, fire safety and emergency procedures, first aid and food hygiene
Keep the charity's equipment and resources safe and in good working order
Skills
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly.
Empathy and understanding towards the challenges faced by youth.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Problem-solving skills to address issues that may arise during activities or interactions.
Experience of working with children
Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is beneficial
Experience of working with children with medical conditions is beneficial
Knowledge of safeguarding practices is beneficial
Knowledge of health and safety practices is beneficial
Paediatric first aid qualification is beneficial

Mileage allowance (capped) to travel to the scheme
21 hours per week over 3 days (Mondays to Fridays)
