Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Supervisor to oversee our production operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This role requires strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to motivate a team to achieve production targets while maintaining high-quality standards.

Duties



Health and Safety



Maintain high standards of safety within the plant and actively encourage a safe culture. Work closely with the health and safety and environmental manager. Ensure that all production staff are aware of their legal safety responsibilities. Continuously drive health and safety standards in your area of responsibility ensuring areas are well maintained reducing near misses and accidents.

Quality Standards



Ensure that all permanent and temporary staff follow the relevant HACCP quality specification procedures in line with our BRC and customer expectations.

Ensure that all technical policies and procedures are adhered to.

Conduct regular GMP audits and liaise closely with the technical team to ensure non-conformances are limited.

GMP and Hygiene



Ensure that all production staff maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping, adapting a clean as you go philosophy.

Cleaning down of machinery and work areas between jobs and at the end of the shifts

Operational



Monitor production efficiency and produce performance information on a daily basis.

Closely monitor yields throughout the factory by use of reporting and keep yield loss to a minimum.

Conduct daily briefings to the teams providing performance feedback and targets and objectives for the shift.

Work closely with other supervisors and planning to effectively plan the labour requirement for the week. Split of full time and temp spend per shift in order to man the correct lines.

Manage holiday requirements for the shift, ensuring there is sufficient cover to achieve planned requirements. Maintain accurate holiday records and minimise absenteeism.

Attend monthly supervisor meetings to ensure team co-operation and sharing of ideas and improvements whilst maintain current requirements.

High degree of cross functional team requirement between shifts and engineering department.

Face to face handovers between shifts and coach team members to do the same

Be involved with the recruitment process as and when required for the team

Ensure production plans are achieved efficiently and effectively

Prioritise customer requirements as needed

Performance Management



Motivate the team ensuring that they are sufficiently skilled and capable to fulfil the requirements of their role. Perform regular appraisals which identify areas of weakness and results in improved performance.

Effective and timely management of performance and conduct issues e.g induction, disciplinary / grievances, absenteeism, lateness, return to work.

Continuous Improvement



Actively engage and promote continuous improvement throughout the plant

Use of captured data to identify areas of opportunity and within the team deliver the expected out come

Good use to process and problem solving skills to identify areas of weakness

Working within the supervisory team and Improvement team

Training and Development



Regularly access and maintain a record of training requirements for all production staff. Progress training needs and liaise with HR to ensure that these are met as required.
Induction of new employees, ensure that all SOP's, procedural and training requirements are adhered to.

Ensure that all employees meet the standards and expectations required of them to fulfil their role to the expected level of the business.

Leadership and Management



Promote and practice through personal example, behaviours consistent with the company vision and values

Provide guidance support and leadership to others in working to those values and take the necessary formal action when the individuals fail to comply

Take ownership of the tasks and duties assigned to you

Additional duties as and when required as per the needs of the business

Qualifications



Previous experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment is essential. Heath & Safety training Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferable) HACCP Level 3 (preferable) Proven experience in FMCG environment (preferable) Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety regulations. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members. Proficient in using manufacturing software and tools for monitoring production metrics. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work flexible hours as required by production demands.
