About our opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Supervisor to join our Production team at EMR Plymouth. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will adopt a continuous improvement approach to ensure safe, environmentally sound, efficient, and productive operations within your team. Your goal will be to manage and develop a high-performing team that collaborates effectively across the business and delivers excellent customer service.
What you will be doing
Work Environment & Team Engagement:

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
Review and address hazard cards and implement remedial actions.
Investigate, review, and report on all Health and Safety incidents and near misses.
Facilitate discussions on Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) issues.
Collaborate with the SHEQ team and Production/Operations Manager to support SHEQ improvements.
Performance Monitoring:
Partner with the Production Manager to monitor KPIs using business systems and tools.
Develop data-based insights to identify and implement performance improvements.
Team Supervision & Development:
Oversee Dayforce activities.
Conduct regular performance and coaching conversations with team members.
Lead daily huddles/briefings to provide key business, safety, and performance updates.
Support HR Case Management processes, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance management.
Contribute ideas for business growth and support sustainable development.
Operational Efficiency:
Monitor and advise on risks or opportunities to the business.
Ensure stock and quality checks are reported and maintained.
Build a stable, well-trained team capable of meeting current and future demands.
Identify and resolve issues, perform troubleshooting, and implement preventive measures.
Liaise with engineering to ensure the smooth operation of plant and machinery.
Act as the senior responsible person on-site during the relevant shift in the absence of the Production Manager.
Report and manage abnormal situations, applying countermeasures to restore normal conditions promptly.
Identify training requirements and ensure team members are skilled and authorised to perform their duties.
Oversee the onboarding of new team members.

Achieve performance targets, including volume, quality, and efficiency.
Identify risks and opportunities with appropriate actions.
Promote continuous improvement in SHEQ culture, standards, and performance.
Optimise utilisation, efficiency, and productivity of all plant operational processes.
Develop a high-performing, motivated, and engaged team.
Ensure strong multi-skilled team coverage for absences.
Maintain high levels of employee engagement and morale.
Complete all daily and periodic safety and quality checks.
About you
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:
Supervisory/Management qualification desirable (training provided if not held).
Strong understanding of a safe working environment and hazard awareness.
Health and Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH) desirable (training provided if not held).
Experience managing small teams.
Manufacturing production or material processing experience.
Strong numeracy, literacy, and verbal reasoning skills.
Familiarity with modern manufacturing lean techniques.
Experience mentoring colleagues and supporting new employees.
Experience working with standard operating procedures and guiding others.
