Job Description

The role of a Supplies Assistant involves assisting with the management of supplies for medical laboratories, including placing purchase orders, receiving goods, unpacking, recording, labelling and shelving, and participating in stock counting. The position also includes assisting with the management of laboratory waste and sterilization processes. You would be working core shifts across all Pathology First sites including; Southend University Hospital, Basildon & Thurrock University Hospital and the Pathology First Hub.

Responsibilities

To collect from hospital stores, and accept from couriers, deliveries of laboratory supplies. Unpack, and distribute to the appropriate laboratories and storage areas. To receipt stock into the computer using the inventory management software, print labels and label items to enable tracking. To assist in recording stock consumption by scanning items into the inventory management system. Monitor stock levels, and place orders for supplies accurately and in good time using the inventory management system. To be able to investigate and resolve problems with orders and supplies. To replenish stocks from main laboratory stores to several locations, including departments, wards, cupboards, fridges and phlebotomy trolleys, and to receive orders, pick pack and dispatch goods to Clinics and surgeries.

Qualifications

GCSEs in English, mathematics and/or equivalent qualifications/experience. Working knowledge of supplies procedures and systems.
