Position

: Supply Chain Assistant

Salary:

29,000

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. With weekend holiday cover when required.

We're looking for a motivated Supply Chain Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be right at the heart of our operations, supporting everything from transport planning and raw material management to customer service and communication.

Role Overview:



As a detail-oriented and proactive Supply Chain Assistant you will support the efficient management of transport planning, raw material coordination, and customer service operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely deliveries, accurate stock control, and smooth communication between suppliers, customers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

:

Transport Planning



Support the Transport Planning Manager and Transport Planners with administration duties and the transport scheduling for the Mills, complying with driver's hours and maximising utilisation of company resources.

Coordinate and complete daily transport schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.

Monitor delivery performance by collating daily KPI data.

Liaise with customer service to ensure the efficient flow of information so all internal and external requirements are met.

Ensure that feed deliveries are planned in a way that all food safety standards and requirements are adhered to, maintaining standards of good practice to minimise any food safety risk to both the birds consuming the feed and the end consumer.

Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures ensuring compliance with legislation and aligned to best practice.

Assist with route planning and optimisation to reduce lead times and costs.

Work in conjunction with the transport team to ensure the driver and vehicle resources are allocated correctly.

Raw Materials



Co-ordinate with other operational areas to order materials and allocate resources to meet production demands.

Liaise with mill production and transport scheduling to ensure amendments or cancellations of orders are efficiently recorded to accurately maintain stock levels.

Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure the efficient flow of information so all internal and external requirements are met.

Support procurement and inventory teams in monitoring raw material requirements.

Track stock levels, anticipate shortages, and assist with purchase order processing.

Maintain accurate records of material movements and support stock reconciliation activities.

Customer Services



Responsible for providing support to customers via email and telephone. This includes processing customer orders, amendments, confirmations, and cancellations.

Support the Mills with smoothing the delivery demand during the week in line with the Mills capacity.

Liaise with the appropriate external contacts to maintain accurate and up to date prescription records where required by customers.

Complete administrative paperwork as required for company reporting procedures, ensuring all records are accurate, compliant, and up to date.

Act as a first point of contact for customer delivery and order queries.

Handle complaints and service failures professionally, ensuring quick resolution.

Collaborate with operational teams to maintain excellent customer satisfaction.

Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience in supply chain, logistics, or customer service (preferred). Strong organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); knowledge of ERP systems is an advantage. Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure. Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
