The Vacancy

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead on implementing the Wates Supply Chain Strategy for our Construction North Business Unit, as well as managing key members of the internal & external supply chain, ensuring that the processes are managed effectively in order to maximise profit, value and opportunity.

Key Accountabilities also include:

  • Setting Supply Chain Strategies for the North Construction business that aligns and supports Group
  • Integral in setting Project Procurement plans with the team and delivering successful outcomes
  • Make decisions based on findings, business to business plans and market understanding
  • Select suppliers using a structured business-based comparison (commercial/ operations) to generate a shortlist and recommendations
  • Maximise value by considering alternative options - product/ programme/ business opportunities
  • Understand supplier product and performance against Wates strategic CSR
  • Gain a detailed understanding of offering from the sub-contractor against Wates strategic targets including mutual business benefits
  • Report on performance and strategic information and metrics to Business leaders.
We are looking for you to have worked in similar roles, which has given you a solid understanding of the construction market, a breadth of knowledge of the Supply Chain across the North, as well as experience of working with various contracts, leading on sustainable procurement, understanding and management of risk.

To be successful in the role you will commercially focused and be confident in taking the lead whilst demonstrating a flexible partnership approach, working collaboratively with key areas of the business to ensure success.
