Telent are seeking a regional Support Engineer due to an increase in work and demand for our support services within the Radio and Telecommunications world. The successful Support Engineer will cover the West Midlands and East Midlands region, travelling to various customer sites. Once initial training is completed, you will be moved onto an on-call roster - 1 in 4 weeks will be on-call. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your Support Engineering experience, whether you have worked on IP router and switch configurations or optical fibre OTDR operations.

Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that is delivering, or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and keep the nation\'s critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Regional Support Engineer - What you\'ll do:

  • As a Regional Support Engineer, you will be tasked by the Service Desk team to maintain various estates and mission-critical equipment in line with contract requirements.
  • Work alone and within a team without the need for direct supervision on site.
  • Conduct fault rectifications on a wide range of switching, transmission & IP equipment. This may also include performing upgrades, installations and project work if required.
  • Participate in 1 in 4 on-call rosters, on a 24/7 rota working 24/7 shifts and in close co-operation with our customers and third parties.
  • Meet the challenge of tight deadlines to minimize down time for the customers, whilst remaining quality focused and delivering a right first-time approach.
  • Carry out tasks from latest issued contract manuals and procedural documents to required standards of quality and time.
  • Complete quality control checks on your own work and work that is completed by others on site, whilst recording results accurately using the correct documents.
  • Manage all tooling and test equipment in line with published processes to ensure that fit for purpose, calibrated and PAT tested tooling and test equipment is available as appropriate to complete all assigned tasks.
  • Be the go-to person for Telent management and customer\'s representatives.
  • Report to the Field Manager AND liaise with the Service Desk team on contract progress and completion of tasks.
  • Utilise your knowledge, understanding and enforcement of all Company Policy, Processes and Procedures relating to installation activities.
  • Accurate and timely completion and submission of all required site administration and completion documents as required.
  • Receipt of deliveries and arrange site clearance.
  • Accurate and timely submission of all timesheet and expense claims in accordance with published processes.
  • Complete general risk assessment prior to commencement of each task on site and record in site diary.
  • Maintain adequate and \'in date\' personal protective equipment sufficient to complete all tasks undertaken and ensure that it is always used as required.
  • Care and maintenance of any allocated vehicle and be fully compliant with all relevant driver policies.
  • Efficient management of all on-hire equipment ensuring items are returned promptly after use to minimise cost.
Regional Support Engineer - Who you are:

The ideal Support Engineer will come from either a Radio or Telecommunications background, with current, up to date knowledge of OTDR, Optical Fibre, IP: routing and switching and have experience of maintaining IP / DWDM or Ethernet networks. This is a field-based role, so the Support Engineer must be comfortable travelling to various locations. The Regional Support Engineer will possess a genuine passion for wanting to troubleshoot, fic, maintain, test and improve technical products, whether it is Cisco and/or Juniper equipment, BT exchanges, Data Centres or Street Cabinets.

Regional Support Engineer - Key requirements / experience:
  • IP: Router and Switch Configuration, installation, and Fault Analysis - CCNA level experience advantageous
  • Complex network build, test, and fault finding - DWDM, IP, Ethernet
  • Optical Fibre: Cable preparation and OTDR operation and interpretation of results
  • Radio: UHF/VHF
  • ONC or BTEC in Telecommunications - Desirable
  • Work experience of 2 years minimum in a similar role
  • NSRWA - Unit 2 (signing, lighting, and guarding)
  • Possess a full UK Drivers Licence
  • Have or ability to pass a Climbing at Height Medical and Rooftop Safety Awareness training
  • Must be eligible for SC Clearance
