Will be responsible for sorting and distributing incoming/outgoing information in a timely manner and ensuring that patients notes are requested and provided in a timely manner. The post holder will liaise with the medical team and appointments department to arrange, cancel or alter clinical commitments to contribute to the smooth running of the department Will be responsible for communicating information, both written and verbal, with patients, staff and carers requiring tact and diplomacy. The post holder will also be responsible for handling telephone and other communications with sensitivity and confidentiality using personal judgement and acquired knowledge to assess each situation and to deal with accordingly. The post holder is required to support the Medical Secretary Team Leader in the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team. This will involve inpatient waiting list management for a specialty, in accordance with the Patient Access Policy, communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and carers and typing correspondence and/or transcribing and typing up of minutes as appropriate.
