Job Description

Steps Together are seeking a full time support worker to provide day-to-day support to adults undertaking extended treatment for addiction at our new tranquil setting Elizabeth House.

You will be integral in helping deliver an effective therapeutic treatment service and client support for a diverse private client base. Working alongside therapists, management and support team to deliver a diverse holistic programme 7 days a week.

The successful candidates will ideally have experience in Substance Misuse, Mental health and possess relevant qualifications.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

Welcoming clients on admission and assisting them during the "settling in" phase to feel comfortable in their surroundings. Supporting clients to fully engage in their weekly recovery programme, including groups, activities, one to one recovery sessions and counselling. Facilitate when required community house meeting to oversee communal approach to cooking, cleaning, shopping and gardening. Including the allocation of key roles and responsibilities. Support clients to plan and devise a weekly activity timetable of social and other external outings to support health, wellbeing and recovery. Support and transport clients to relevant activities, group, individual or other appointments on a daily basis. Maintain regular observation of clients ensuring a cohesive and supportive peer group is maintained. Supporting clients to achieve their own personal recovery plans, working with clients to book appointments, attend courses, attend activities etc. Also, in developing life skills to support independent living. To support clients to adhere to any regular prescribed medication and treatment effectively. Facilitate and support recovery based groups and go through recovery work on a one to one basis where required. Prepare and check all client care records, maintaining care records and ensuring client files are fully complete and records up to date. To participate fully in client care handovers at the beginning and end of each shift, maintaining good communication levels with colleagues around significant client care issues. To support clients on discharge ensuring the client has a solid recovery plan in place and has all the resources and details required to achieve their plan.

The ideal candidate will posses a strong background in support work and must be:

Experienced in the delivery of support to adults experiencing difficulty with mental health or substance misuse. Support the company to achieve excellence in service delivery and remain fully compliant with the Health & Social Care Act Ideally, possess an NVQ in health and social care or Care Certificate Able to work effectively as part of a team and willing to go the extra mile for colleagues, clients and other stakeholders Have a good understanding of infection control practices and able to ensure that your delivery supports excellent hygiene and infection control at all times Capable of excellent record keeping and principles of good communication, client confidentiality and Data Protection rules Able to actively support clients to engage in daily activities, outings, physical activities and socially fun activity. Possess a genuine desire to support people experiencing difficulty with addictions; operating in a non-judgemental, passionate and committed manner at all times. Full UK driving licence
