Support Worker Children (part Time)

Oldham, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and caring individuals to help meet the rising demand for support workers for disabled children in and around Oldham.

Pennine Social Care operates a well-established and rapidly growing care and support service. We are providing support to children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs to help them develop their independence as much as possible, while also providing respite for parents and family members. Many of the young people we support have quite challenging needs but benefit enormously from the positive input of committed support staff.

Staff need to be flexible, personable, compassionate, good communicators and either have a car and UK driving license OR be very confident to travel on public transport to different locations.

Please note - a number of clients may specifically require staff who are drivers, either to drive them in one of our company cars or in the client's own Motability vehicle.

We provide an extensive program of in-house training and can potentially fast-track experienced support staff into work.

The purpose of the care provided by our support workers is to assist children and young people with complex disabilities to become as independent and live as fully active lives as possible. This can involve support sessions at home, or going out to access public spaces and activities in the community. With younger and more severely disabled individuals some personal care may be required.

The tasks you undertake will be jointly agreed by the service user, their parents/family members, their social worker and our service manager in accordance with the service user's assessed needs. This will be written down as an Individual Care Plan, which will be kept in the service user's home.

This document will specify your duties for each individual service user you work with and it will be your responsibility to follow this and the task list specified for each shift in our care planning app.

Staff will be expected to document their tasks clearly, accurately and in a professional manner. Keeping accurate written records is a vital part of the role, as is a good understanding of the principles of safeguarding.
