Broughton, WLS, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Reference Number:

VAC/0725/05224

Closing Date : 22/07/2025

Summary

I suffered a stroke 2 and a half years ago and after a long stint in hospital and at the stroke rehab unit I was able to return home, and I have been enjoying being back in my own environment thanks to additional PA support. I have really enjoyed being at home again and I have adapted well to my familiar settings confirming that the return home was most definitely the right move forward. I have minimal needs as the stroke did not affect me physically but has left me with aphasia and I may mix up words and therefore require slower sequences. The stroke has sadly left me with vascular dementia, although the signs of this are minimal at the moment. I am very bubbly and down to earth with a good sense of humour. I am 81 going on 18 with my energy levels and love to potter in the garden, I enjoy shopping or going for a coffee out, and love to have a chat. I am a very sociable person, therefore maintaining my social life is important to me, and to get out into the community.

About the role

I am looking for someone to be my friend and companion who I can trust who will check in on me and enjoy a cup of tea and a chat and support me with mealtimes.

Maintaining my independence is very important to me. I'm looking for someone who can offer friendly and positive support, while treating me with the respect that comes with my age and experience. I really appreciate being spoken to as an equal, rather than in a way that feels overly childlike or patronising.

Someone who will take me out on afternoon trips therefore Full UK clean driving license is essential.

Someone who would accompany me within my garden and potter around.

The kind of person I am looking for

I can sometimes misunderstand situations, which can make me a little anxious so having your patience and an empathetic approach to my worries is important to me, this has been more heightened since my dementia diagnosis, therefore your resilience with any changeable moods is important.
