We are seeking some a Support Worker (Resident Support / Houskeeper) to help ensure our resident's wellbeing is at the heart of our work. The role includes housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning, dining room service and resident interaction. The role is varied; you will need to have a responsive, professional and thoughtful approach to your work and others, with the desire to achieve your best at all times.

BACKGROUND:
The Church of England Pensions Board is a statutory body which is corporate trustee and administrator of four pension schemes. It is also trustee of a number of charitable funds for the benefit of those retired from the stipendiary ministry and clergy widow(er)s. These underpin supplementary income grants, and the provision of retirement housing which includes seven community living housing schemes.
Ramsay Hall
is a community living housing scheme for retired clergy and their spouses. Residents live as independently as possible within self-contained flats. A catering is available to residents.
Job Summary Responsible for the provision and delivery of person-centred daily support to enable residents to live independently.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -
Support Service Provision
1. Organise and plan with residents their individual Support Plans, to set aims and agreed outcomes.
2. Regularly review the Support Plan with residents to ensure that the plan and service remains responsive to residents changing needs and circumstances.
3. Monitor the well-being of residents daily and notify the Scheme Manager of any concerns, or relevant changes of circumstances which may affect a resident's health or support needs.
4. Carry out individual support tasks as set out in each resident's Support Plan and to assist with meeting residents' daily living needs but outside of any personal care requirements.
5. Carrying out where agreed, residents` laundry, general flat cleaning, and general tidying.
6. Assisting and supporting residents with shopping, reading and correspondence within the agreed outcomes of the Support Plan
7. To take an interest in residents` daily lives in a supportive and friendly manner
8. Promote and help to deliver residents activities and to support residents to engage in social opportunities within the scheme.
9. Respond in a timely manner to alarm calls for assistance from resident.
10. Report and record accurately in the diary, any issues relating to the residents or scheme to ensure good communication for scheme staff.
Housekeeping Tasks
1. Assisting with cleaning of all communal areas, including the guest rooms, and ensuring that all areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
2. Assisting with laundry for communal areas, including the guest rooms.
3. To assist in the dining room and to serve meals to residents from the commercial kitchen to the tables.
4. To clear away in the dining room after each meal, and to lay out the tables.
5. Ensuring that dining room is kept clean and tidy.
6. Ensure that the dining room is safe and secure for residents to use.
7. To assist in maintaining the security of the building and to carry out regular security checks when working outside of normal office hours.
Service Delivery
1. On a rota basis, along with the Manager, Deputy Manager, and Handyperson to provide out of hours on call support to the community alarm provider, or staff on site. In specific circumstances, eg fire or flood, or structural damage, this may involve attendance on site.
Additional Responsibilities Cover
1. To have designated on a rota basis at weekend and bank holiday day shifts, the overall Additional Responsibility Cover, for which an additional hourly allowance will be paid.
2. As part of Additional Responsibilities Cover, to act as duty manager in the absence of senior management, ensuring that all catering and cleaning services are provided and to respond to any queries from residents, contractors and visitors.
3. As part of Additional Responsibilities Cover, to ensure that all shifts are covered to maintain service provision if notified of unexpected last-minute absences.
Additional Duties
1. To carry out duties placed on employees by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
2. To comply with the Data Protection Act in connection with all aspects of the management of the running of the scheme.

Education
Good standard of Education including written English and numeracy
Food Hygiene Level 1 - where role involves food handling - training can be provided.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience of working in a housing or care setting
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Professional attitude and approach
Commitment to customer centred service and an empathy with older people
Awareness of safeguarding procedures in general
Able to deal calmly and effectively under pressure and in difficult situations.
Ability to cope with challenging behaviour.
Strong focus on working as part of a team.
Able to work with minimum supervision.

This role involves unsupervised working with vulnerable adults, and is exempt from the
Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 in respect of spent convictions. Any appointment to this role is therefore subject to satisfactory completion of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Pay: 12.71 Basic Pay and 12.84 Weekend Pay
Pay scales are reviewed annually in April.
Pension Contributions: Non-clergy staff will be admitted to the Defined Contributions Scheme.
Hours of Duty: Normal hours per week are

hours average based on a rota system
Annual Leave: This represents 6.2 x 16. The leave year runs 1st January to 31st December. This is of public holidays.
Contract: This post is permanent, subject to a six month probationary period.
