to join our dedicated team working with children aged
8 to 10 years
in a
residential children's home
and
supported living settings
across
Leicester and Northampton
. This is a vital role where you'll provide consistent emotional and practical support to young children, some of whom may have experienced trauma, neglect, or disrupted family life.
You will also be required to support young people aged 16+ in semi-independent supported accommodation, helping them develop life skills as they transition toward independence.
This dual-role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact across two key stages in a young person's life.
Key Responsibilities
As per UK Home Office standards for children's residential and supported accommodation:
Support children aged 8-10 with their daily routines, including personal care, meals, play, and emotional wellbeing
Provide nurturing, consistent care in line with individual care and behaviour plans
Work flexibly across the residential children's home and 16+ supported living services
Promote the safety, dignity, and emotional security of children and young people
Build trusting, professional relationships to encourage positive outcomes
Facilitate activities and therapeutic engagement that aid development and confidence
Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers, and mental health professionals
Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and care documentation
Uphold safeguarding procedures at all times and report any concerns appropriately
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people in a residential, care or support setting
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
Ability to manage challenging behaviours with empathy and professionalism
A trauma-informed and child-centred approach
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
A full UK driving licence is
desirable
