Job Description




Brook Street Social Care is a national organisation that provide both temporary and permanent recruitment services. We specialise in pairing experienced and qualified candidates into a range of social care services across London. We work with a wide range of private and charitable organisations that support young people who are leaving care.
At present, we are recruiting for a number of qualified and experienced Support workers who have experienced supporting 16 - 24-year-olds who have a range of needs including mental health, learning difficulties, anti-social behaviours and substance misuse issues. We welcome candidates who have worked specifically with children who have complex needs in a residential setting.

Hiring for candidates having experience working with children or young people for at least 6 months in past 2 years.

The typical shift patterns would consist of the following, but may vary:
7am - 2pm OR 8am - 3pm
2pm - 10pm OR 3pm - 11pm
10pm - 8am OR 11pm - 9am (We have waking night or sleep in shifts available)
Our rates of pay vary, based on the different organisations we work with. Our workforce are paid on a PAYE basis only, to ensure holiday hours, and other benefits are available to our temporary workforce.

The suitable candidate would possess the following:
- Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in social care or youth studies (Children & young people workforce / Childcare and education / Childhood studies / Youth and community work etc)
- An enhanced DBS certificate is required - we can accept enhanced DBS certificates that are registered on the update service
- Flexibility to work on shift/rota patterns
- Working knowledge of the children`s Act 2014 and Every Child Matters
- Ability to foster positive relationships with the children and providing ongoing support in line with support/care plans
- This role requires candidates to showcase resilience as our clients support young people who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties and anti social behaviours
- Communication - Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
- Experience with record keeping and report writing, and understanding of how to deal with emergencies within a Ofsted home environment
- IT literacy
