We are looking for someone to support our dad to live at home and maintain independence. We're seeking someone kind, patient, and good-humoured who can provide Dad with help, some personal care, and company.
Dad suffers from advanced Parkinson's and mild dementia. At times, he becomes confused about his surroundings. He needs support getting up, washed, and dressed, taking his medications, preparing and eating meals, keeping his house tidy, doing his physio exercises, and preparing to go to bed. He is sometimes able to get washed and dressed and handle his personal care needs, but does require someone to be present in the house while he does this in case he gets confused or has a fall. On days when he is more affected by confusion and physical stiffness, he needs someone to help him get washed and dressed.
We are looking to recruit two additional carers to expand the support dad already has in place. We will be looking for people who are able to work around 10 hours each week, covering one or two shift each day. There is some flexibility in the scheduling, but the rough times will be:
8am-9am
to help him get out of bed, get washed and dressed, help him with medications, prompt and supervise his physio exercises, and supervise him preparing at eating breakfast.
12 noon-1pm
to help him with medications, physio, and supervise him preparing and eating lunch.
4pm-5pm
to help him with medications, physio, and supervise him preparing and eating tea.
7pm-8pm
to help him with medications, preparing and eating supper, getting changed and going to bed.
We're keen to hear from anyone who fits the bill and can work some of these shifts.
