I'm recruiting for a housing association seeking a Surveyor to join their frontline team in Eastleigh, covering the local area including Southampton. You'll ensure homes are safe and well-maintained by carrying out surveys, diagnosing defects and overseeing repair works. The role is varied, fast-paced and customer-focused, so confidence, problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude are essential. Key Responsibilities
Inspect and assess repair requests, identifying defects and recommending solutions.
Carry out property inspections, investigate disrepair cases and provide Housing Condition reports.
Provide technical support to the legal team for disrepair or legal claims.
Advise managers, supervisors, trade staff, subcontractors and consultants on technical maintenance issues.
Obtain quotations for repairs or specialist works in line with financial regulations.
Approve and inspect Disabled Facility Grant (DFG) works.
Support customer permission requests and retrospective applications.
Assist with surveys linked to internal and external planned maintenance programmes.
Assess component lifecycles and contribute to planned maintenance schedules.
Deliver excellent customer service and resolve tenancy-related issues professionally.
Work collaboratively across teams to share knowledge and support service improvements.
Maintain accurate written and digital records to a high standard.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Relevant degree or HND/HNC in Building Surveying or a related construction field (essential).
Experience in building maintenance or building surveying.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle challenging conversations.
Highly organised, able to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
Commercial awareness and a value-for-money mindset.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with maintenance management software.
Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car
