We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation. Your expertise in food safety and kitchen practices will ensure that all meals are prepared in a clean and efficient manner.
Duties
Prepare and assemble sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, using fresh ingredients
Ensure all food is prepared according to health and safety regulations
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment
Collaborate with kitchen staff to create new menu items and improve existing offerings
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and assist with ordering supplies as needed
Provide exceptional service by ensuring that all dishes are presented beautifully and served promptly
Train junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and meal preparation
Previous kitchen experience within a restaurant environment is essential
Culinary experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine is highly desirable
Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations
Excellent attention to detail with a passion for creating visually appealing dishes
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality
