Duties

Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls, ensuring high standards of presentation and taste. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations at all times. Assist in meal preparation by preparing ingredients such as rice, vegetables, and seafood for sushi dishes. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for restocking to management. Stay updated on current trends in sushi preparation and presentation to continually enhance menu offerings. Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with diners when necessary and ensuring their satisfaction with the meal.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant kitchen. Strong culinary skills with knowledge of food safety practices and regulations. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various sushi-making techniques. A passion for Japanese cuisine and willingness to learn new methods of food preparation. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends as required by the restaurant's schedule.
