Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and energetic Sushi Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality sushi and sashimi, ensuring every dish meets our standards of freshness, flavor, and visual appeal. Your expertise will help create a lively atmosphere where guests enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine crafted with precision and passion.
Duties
Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with skillful knife techniques and attention to detail
Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and food handling procedures in all aspects of food preparation
Plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and innovative flavor combinations
Ensure all food is prepared efficiently to meet service times during busy hours in a fast-paced environment
Collaborate with team members to uphold quality standards and deliver excellent food service experiences
Monitor inventory levels of raw ingredients, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste
Assist in training junior kitchen staff on proper sushi preparation techniques and safety protocols
Experience
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a fine dining or restaurant setting
Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi rolling techniques, and ingredient handling
Demonstrated knife skills with precision in slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients
Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and culinary creativity
Background in food safety practices and maintaining cleanliness standards in the kitchen
Previous work in the food industry or catering environments preferred
Familiarity with dietary department procedures or dietary aide experience is a plus
