About the role:
As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, Avara take pride in their approach to Sustainability across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Graduate/Apprentice to join their Sustainability Team.
There is the opportunity for the role to be undertaken as a Level 4 Apprenticeship as a Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner.
They are at the beginning of their Sustainability journey and, while they have made significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), they are now in the process of identifying and broadening their environmental sustainability programme and KPIs for the next 15 years. They are looking for an individual whose role will consist of data management and reporting of their sustainability data.

What will you be doing as a Sustainability Apprentice at Avara?
As a Sustainability Apprentice, you will be working with the Sustainability Team and be responsible for managing sustainability data with reporting requirements to fulfil both internally and externally. The role will also support the development and application of sustainability assessment tools to improve the management and reduction of carbon, waste, water and raw materials.
Main Responsibilities:
Responsibility for Avara's sustainability data, ensuring that it is robust and auditable
Analysing data to provide insight into current performance, progress against KPIs and identifying best practices and potential opportunities to further progress their sustainability credentials
Working with internal and external partners to help define appropriate feedback on sustainability KPI's and targets to support the Avara sustainability agenda.
Working as part of a project team to deliver central environmental data analysis
Contributing to the annual Avara Responsible Business Report and internal engagement programs

Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills - e.g. pivot table & competency in other Microsoft Office Applications such as PowerBI.
An understanding of agriculture & food systems, specifically poultry supply chains, is desirable
Experience gathering and interpreting large sets of data, with the ability to present in a simple format
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manipulate data for varied applicable audiences
The ability to multitask, with a strong attention to detail
The ability to well work under pressure to hit both external and internal deadlines
Excellent communication and presentation skills
The ability to understand relevant issues in-depth and consistently looking to broaden your knowledge and understanding
An interest in key sustainability themes including carbon, waste, water, energy supply and consumption, food production & food waste and a passion to drive positive impacts on the environment
The ability to work independently and proactively as a part of a small team
The ability to work cross-functionally across different departments and teams
Full UK driving license
