Job Description

Scotland's leading and most successful Age Group and Youth programme has various opportunities for creative coaches to work across our competitive pathway and add value to our current team. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who are able to share and contribute to our ethos of delivering the highest standards of coaching and training possible whilst supporting the development of life-long skills and values in our athletes.

Induction and training will be provided by the Head Coach, Laurel Bailey.

Key responsibilities:



Provide coaching to athletes within the programme, supported by the Head Coach, to deliver the highest attainable levels of individual performance.

Ensure a progressive squad culture is in place which will maximise individual potential within and enjoyable and rewarding team environment.

Work alongside the Head Coach/coaching team to prepare and write appropriate season plans & sessions.

Work with the Head Coach to set an appropriate competition calendar for the squad and attend competitions as required and agreed with the Head Coach.

Submit meet entries within deadlines (if required).

Keep attendance records and attend to administrative tasks required for the efficient running of the squad. Support will be provided by the Club's administrative team.

Provide reports and updates on squad performance to the Head Coach from time to time.

Skills & Attributes:



Successful candidates will be passionate about swimming and enjoy working with children of varying stages of development

Observant and swimmer-focussed, showing great attention to technical detail

Excellent communication skills and be able to develop a rapport with young athletes, encouraging them to love the sport of swimming and all it has to offer

A desire to learn

Requirements:



UKCC Level 1 minimum (or equivalent), and able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the principles of long-term athlete development Ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated, ideally with a background in swimming and/or prior coaching experience an advantage Ability to work flexible hours to include weekend training sessions and some weekend competitions Willing and able to work effectively with a large coaching and administration team and to develop positive relationships with key partners of the Club Sound IT skills (there will be a requirement to use Hy-tek and Meet Manager software). Training will be provided by the Club. Abide by and promote sound ethics, Club policies and Scottish Swimming policies, in particular with regard to child wellbeing and protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members Sign and adhere to the Coach's Code of Conduct Attend appropriate training as discussed with and agreed by the Head Coach, including the National Rescue Award. This will be arranged by the Club. Complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check (PVG), including self-declaration form and 2 satisfactory references.
This is a self-employed position with competitive remuneration, depending on experience and qualifications. A 3-month probationary period will require to be completed before the position is confirmed.
