We are currently looking for experienced, energetic and enthusiastic Swimming Coaches to lead and coach the Swimming Squads including Development Squad, Youth Squad and C Squad within the performance training program. We are looking for individuals with a proven track record of coaching and developing performance age group swimmers. You will be responsible for planning, coaching and evaluating your own squad of swimmers. You must hold the ASA or STA Swimming Teacher qualification. In addition you must hold the RLSS National Pool Lifeguard qualification and be able to pass BPL's water safety test.
Job Purpose and Main Aims
Responsibility for leading training sessions and performance coaching. Experience in swimming teaching/coaching is essential RLSS lifeguard or teachers rescue test is essential and a valid first aid certificate.
Specifically
To organise, instruct and supervise classes in swimming activities at times specified by the Head Coach / Head of Performance Swimming, in such ways to reflect the requirements and needs of individual groups and individuals within a group.
To provide a structured scheme of work and lesson plans for each group, following the recognised Governing Body recommendations.
To carry out additional training activities associated with Long Term Athletic Development to include fitness conditioning.
To liaise with aquatic team staff, to ensure the ongoing development of swimming opportunities throughout the company
To assist with promotion and publicity of activities and events related to the post.
All duties and responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with BPL policies on equalities and health and safety.
To ensure that all registers, assessment forms and other documentation are completed on time and returned to the designated officer or club/squad representative.
To comply with matters confidentially, and adhere to the BPL's code of conduct including the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
To attend relevant meetings as required and by all other means to maintain awareness regarding developments within swimming including but not exclusively any issues regarding health and safety and general changes in legislation.
To handle, erect and dismantle relevant equipment and ensure that such equipment is in a safe condition for use, that it is correctly stored.
A flexible approach, willing to work evenings and weekends, determined by the leisure centre timetable, and a willingness to cover for holidays and sickness.
Any other duties and responsibilities that may arise which do not change the nature of the post.
And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management.
