FIFTH Movement works with schools across Greater Manchester to increase children's access to physical activity, outdoor learning, and essential life skills. Our aim is simple, to make movement, wellbeing, and opportunity part of every child's day regardless of background, ability, or postcode.
We partner with schools to deliver P.E, after-school clubs, active clubs, and Swim:Ed, swimming and water-safety education directly on school grounds.
About Swim:Ed & Our Pop-Up Pools
Swim:Ed is a programme created to remove one of the biggest barriers schools face, access to a swimming pool.
Our fully heated, enclosed pop-up pools allow us to bring swimming lessons onto the school site, cutting travel time, reducing costs, and ensuring that every child has the chance to learn how to be safe and confident in the water.
This approach gives teachers more time in the pool, reduces missed learning time for pupils, and allows swimming lessons to run consistently throughout the school day.
The Role
We are looking for a Swimming Teacher who is confident in the water, steady under pressure, and able to deliver clear, structured lessons in a unique mobile-pool environment.
You'll be working closely with schools to deliver swimming and water-safety sessions to children with a wide range of abilities. Lessons take place in our onsite pop-up pool, so being comfortable in a compact but well-equipped environment is important.
Alongside teaching, the role includes supporting the operational running of the poolsim ple water-testing checks, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and helping maintain a clean and organised space.
This role suits someone who values consistency and high standards in their teaching.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver swimming lessons aligned to the Swim:Ed programme.
Teach water confidence, basic strokes, and essential water-safety skills.
Carry out daily pool water-testing checks and record results accurately.
Adjust teaching approaches to suit different abilities and support individual progression.
Provide clear demonstrations, corrections, and feedback.
Support with set-up and pack-down of equipment before and after sessions.
Communicate clearly with school staff, colleagues, and Swim:Ed coordinators.
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and operational procedures at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification (Swim England, STA, or equivalent).
First Aid qualification (Emergency First Aid at Work or above).
Up-to-date safeguarding training for working with children.
Enhanced DBS (current or willing to obtain).
Confident teaching groups of primary-aged children.
Understanding of stroke development and water-safety fundamentals.
Able to complete basic pool-testing procedures (training provided if needed).
Reliable, professional, and comfortable working in a school environment.
