Job Description

Are you a dedicated swim teacher passionate about providing quality instruction to students? Swim Ed are seeking an enthusiastic and professional Swim Teacher to join our team.

Our swim lessons are conducted in portable pools at different primary schools within Slough & High Wycombe. This is a term time only position for 38 weeks per year with a starting salary of 18,600 which is a FTE of 25,500.

Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality, engaging swimming lessons to primary school children in line with the Swim:Ed curriculum and national curriculum outcomes. Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and progress of every child throughout each lesson. Work closely with the swim teacher or lifeguard onsite to maintain vigilant supervision and manage any emerging risks. Complete accurate class registers, assessment records, and progression data using the Swim:Ed portal. Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of mixed-ability groups, ensuring lessons remain inclusive and confidence-building. Brief children clearly at the start of each session on behaviour expectations, safety rules, and poolside routines. Support pupils with additional needs by providing differentiated instruction and working collaboratively with school staff. Prepare and organise teaching equipment prior to lessons, ensuring aids are clean, safe, and appropriate for the session plan. Maintain consistent communication with schools, ensuring smooth transitions to and from the pool in line with PSOP procedures. Follow all elements of the Pool Safety Operating Procedure (PSOP), including NOP, EAP, safeguarding and emergency roles. Report any incidents, hazards, or near-misses promptly using organisational reporting protocols. Ensure all children demonstrate good pre-swim hygiene and safe conduct around the TMS and pool area. Contribute to maintaining a positive Swim:Ed culture where children feel encouraged, supported, and motivated
Requirements:

A recognised Level 2 STA or Swim England Qualification An NPLQ lifeguard qualification or NRASTC certification is not essential but desirable Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A genuine passion for teaching and promoting water safety. Availability to work during school hours (Monday - Friday, 8:15am - 3:15pm) - 6.5 hours per day (around 4-5 hours of actual lessons)
