The role




This role will be responsible for all actuarial output relating to the Lloyd's platform. This will involve a combination of undertaking analysis directly and working with existing TFP actuarial functions across business planning, technical pricing, profitability analysis, portfolio management, outwards reinsurance purchasing, capital modelling and reserving. The purpose of the role is to drive action and impact through an understanding of the business and appreciation of the range of analysis available.



The TFP Syndicate business is a fast-growing area writing insurance and reinsurance risks across a number of property, specialty, and bespoke economic / credit classes from TFP underwriters and Pine Walk MGA cells. It writes a broad range of large commercial and SME risks.



The Head of Syndicate Actuarial will utilise the expertise of existing TFP functions with the key purpose of the role being to manage and coordinate this work for the Syndicate platform. It represents an opportunity to have a very wide-ranging role across Underwriting, Exposure Management, Reinsurance, Capital, Reserving, Pricing and Investments; with output focussed on driving business value and insigh

Key accountabilities




Directing the strategy for development of actuarial analysis for syndicate business Leading analytical input across syndicate risk appetite definition and monitoring, having an appreciation across all business areas Reviewing and challenging proposals for syndicate reserves and capital Directing specific analysis to provide insight into capital optimisation and reserving trends Liaising with the Outwards Reinsurance, Exposure Management and Capital teams to understand and manage exposure aggregations and optimise reinsurance structure placements Direct and undertake analysis of trends in the portfolio to inform strategic decisions, including investment decisions Manage regulatory interaction on all areas within and connected to actuarial analysis Provide analysis to investors to support understanding of the drivers of the result for the portfolio Play a leadership role in the syndicate team culture of high performance and inclusion: + Agility in approach and appropriately directed constructive challenge

Skills & experience




Required qualifications, skills and experience:




Qualified Actuary with experience working across a range of business areas Experience bringing together knowledge and analytical thinking across business areas to make recommendations and clearly communicate opportunities and uncertainties Experience on driving outcomes and understanding in situations involving large volumes or limited data Experience communicating in a range of formats to a range of stakeholders Experience of formal reporting and presentation to committees
