Salary: \xc2\xa342,700 - \xc2\xa367,500 based on experience

AWE is currently recruiting a System Analyst with a good knowledge of PL/1 for server-side scripting with a task to design and implement a graphical frontend display of system health and live system metrics for users. The role will join a small team of Software Analysts and the successful candidate will undertake all aspects of 1st line system support and customer requests.

As a System Analyst you will be required to:
  • Undertake a new project to extract data from a central server that uses a \'flat file\' database and import the data into a relational database
  • Create a system that extracts information from the Relational Database to create:
  • Daily/Weekly and Quarterly reports
  • System Health Check reports
  • Bespoke reports
  • Develop a way of extracting data from the central server when the central server application becomes obsolete
  • Handle queries from internal customers and work as part of a small group to solve the query
  • Undertake minor application updates in PL/1
  • Undertake daily health checks on a central server
  • Peer review software code of other programmers
  • Design, as well as undertake, system testing, module testing, regression testing and validate user acceptance testing
To succeed in this role, you\'ll have:
  • Possess knowledge of BS, EN 61508 programming standards
  • Good working knowledge of Relational databases
  • Server-Side scripting: Java, PHP, Perl, Python etc.
  • HTML and page design
  • PL/1 programming or Cobol program skills
  • C, C++ and Fortran programming skills would be beneficial
  • Operating systems: VOS, Linux and Windows
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for this role.
