We're looking for a
System Design Engineer
to join our team in
Derby
working on a high-profile defence project, contributing to the design of
safety-critical control systems
in line with aerospace standards. If you're passionate about solving complex technical challenges and making a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Location: Derby
On Site: 1-2x week
Clearance: Not required
Experience Level: Junior - Mid Level/senior
Key Responsibilities:
Support Preliminary & Critical Design Reviews
Review and validate
design changes
and software high-level requirements
Develop control system requirements for airborne applications
Conduct FMEA/FMECA and safety analysis
Apply
ARP4754, DO-178B/C and DO-254
guidance in a regulated environment
Represent systems engineering in cross-functional reviews
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Background in product development within a safety-critical environment
Exposure to EASA/FAA certification processes is a plus
Previous work on gas turbine engines or propulsion systems is desirable
Required Qualifications:
A
Bachelor's
or
Master's degree
in
Engineering
, in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or
equivalent
military experience.
Desirable Skills:
Comfortable writing and reviewing system/software requirements
Skilled in root cause analysis, lifecycle impact, and change validation
Experience with model-based systems and digital engineering toolsets
Ability to collaborate and communicate clearly across teams
Knowledge of safety analysis techniques (FMEA, FMECA)
