We are based in Gwynedd in north Wales over three locations - our main office in Caernarfon and offices at Pwllheli and Dolgellau.

Having developed a close working relationship with a number of clients across Wales, we pride ourselves on our collaborative approach of working regionally in order to deliver locally.

Purpose of the post



Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.Responsibility for functions oStaff involved in the identified duties. Any equipment, vehicle, machine or goods relating to the duties specified.Main duties oLead, develop, operate and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) to the ISO 14001 standard and operate as the primary point of contact for the Department. oAssist with maintaining our Quality (ISO 9001) and Occupational Health & Safety (ISO 45001) certifications and collaborate with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor in order to prepare for internal and external audits. oLead on Risk Assessment matters and responsibility for updating the Department's Risk Register. oDevelop and maintain environmental policies, procedures and strategies. oMaintain third party contact with third party organisations such as Natural Resources Wales and others. oMonitor, review and audit compliance with EMS measures. oProvide regular environmental updates to relevant officers and teams within the department. oConsolidate and report on environmental data for the purpose of monitoring key performance indicators. oEnsure that all environmental incidents are investigated and reported in accordance with Council procedures and statutory requirements. oUndertake regular visits to sites/ depots in order to monitor compliance with environmental requirements. oPrepare and maintain information, correspondence, records and reports in a timely manner in accordance with environmental legislation requirements. oAssist the operational units to achieve improvements that have been identified as a result of the council's improvement system, or as a result of inspections or when changes to statutory requirements have been made. oAssist and lead in establishing working arrangements for projects, contracts or tenders where environmental aspects are relevant. oAssist with the identification of training needs and providing environmental training for staff and workforce oCoordinate and organise meetings as required. oSetting the agenda, provide minutes of meetings and distribute relevant information relating to various meetings. oOperate systems and software programs on the above to a high level of ability. oEstablish 'Environmental Management Working Group', including representation from all relevant stakeholders within the department. oResponsibility for self-development. oEnsure compliance with Health and Safety rules in the workplace in accordance with the responsibilities noted in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Council's Health and Safety Policy. oOperate within the Council's policies in relation to equal opportunities and equality. oResponsible for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management guidelines. Ensure that personal information is treated in accordance with Data Protection legislation. oCommitment to reducing the Council's carbon emissions in accordance with the Carbon Management Plan, and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council's Carbon Footprint. oUndertake any other reasonable duty which corresponds to the salary level and responsibility level of the job.Responsibility to report any worry or suspicion that a child or vulnerable adult is being abused.Special circumstances oOut of hours work will be required to respond to service needs and emergency incidents.
