Join the UKSI Talent Acquisition Team - Internship Opportunity

Location: Flexible (with some in-person days at a UKSI site)

Duration: 6 months (part-time or full-time considered)

Start Date: Flexible - but in order for the full 6 month experience the internship needs to start no later than the 1st October 2025 and will end on 31st March 2026

We're looking for a driven and dynamic intern to join the UK Sports Institute's Talent Department as we build towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic cycle.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a real project from start to finish - shaping the future of sports talent development in the UK.

What You'll Do

Lead the design and launch of a wider sports internship programme for LA 2028 - you'll create it, test it, and help us bring it to life. Create engaging social media content to share the stories of talent pathways, athletes, coaches, and performance staff. Work with data and insights to support evidence-based decision making - including simple dashboards or visual reports. Collaborate with experts across UKSI and the wider sports network - from Olympic sports to Paralympic talent pathways. Bring fresh ideas to our work - from how we communicate, to how we engage with new and emerging talent including the research of Artificial intelligence and how it can shape and enhance the way we do things!

What We're Looking For

We don't need a specific degree or qualification. We care about:

A genuine passion for sport and performance. Confidence using social media creatively (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Canva, etc) A curious mind with the ability to interpret and visualise data. Strong communication skills - written, visual and verbal. A self-starter mindset - someone who's excited to shape and deliver their own project. A willingness to learn, adapt and contribute to a high-performance team.

Application Task - "Your First 100 Days" Project

Brief:

Imagine you've just started as the Talent Acquisition Intern at UKSI. You've been asked to design a launch concept for a Sports Internship Programme aimed at engaging university students and recent graduates in the journey towards the LA 2028 Games.

Your task is to prepare a

two-part submission

:

Creative Campaign Concept (max 2 pages or 5 slides)

A campaign name & strapline. Two example social media posts (mocked up using Canva or similar) for the GB High Performance Careers LinkedIn page. A short description of your visual style choices and why they'll appeal to your target audience. Ideas for one "Day in the Life" feature that could inspire candidates.

Insight & Innovation Plan (max 1 page)

A short plan outlining how you'd track the success of the campaign (key metrics). One suggestion for how to use an emerging social media trend or platform(e.g., TikTok, Threads) to reach new audiences. One innovative idea for enhancing the candidate experience during the application process.

What happened Next:

If you are successful in the first round of the selection process, you'll be invited in for a coffee and an informal chat at one of our sites, get to meet some of the team and we can get to know you. We'll then ask you to talk through your tasks in more detail helping us to visualise why you are aligned to the role.
