Our Private Client Tax department are looking for a Tax Assistant to join their exciting and growing team.


We are looking for someone to assist with all routine personal tax compliance and ad hoc advisory work. The role requires you to support senior colleagues with their client portfolios.



This role follows a hybrid working pattern, with a combination of in-office and remote work. It typically requires two days per week in the City office.

Key Responsibilities





Preparation and filing of tax returns. Dealing with a range of capital gains tax issues. Liaising with clients, banks and other third parties. Dealing with HMRC queries. Attending client meetings. Data gathering and preparing internal management statistics. Proposing fees, raising client bills and regularly reviewing WIP against agreed budgets. Undertaking research for the management team and Partners.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise





Technical Expertise:Partially or fully ATT qualified. Previous private client tax experience is essential. Understands & applies basic tax practice, risk management and quality control protocols while seeking guidance where appropriate. Prepares basic tax computations/returns. Competent in the use of tax software applications. Prepares basic written work on tax topics relevant to client assignments.
Enterprise:Aware of the relationship between chargeable hours recorded and fees, good awareness of budgets and monitors WIP on an ongoing basis.

Business BuildingShows enthusiasm and represents the firm and its values. Identifies potential constructive recommendations for clients. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the client's needs.
Client RelationshipsRecognises that good client relationships are critical to our business. Chooses appropriate mode of communication with client - e.g. phone vs email. Understands that client relationships can be external and internal (other teams within the firm).
DeliveryTakes responsibility for allocated assignments /tasks. Can take responsibility for their workload and work with the managers and above to assist with completion. Is confident and asks for assistance/advice in a timely manner.
Inter-personal skillsExcellent communication skills, both written, verbal and presentation. Engages confidently in a friendly and professional manner. A good team player recognising team objectives, goals and assisting others as required. Is comfortable making suggestions and ideas to try and improve operational efficiency.
