Role overview



This role will involve being a key player in the finance team and is responsible for assisting the Tax Business Partner in managing the tax affairs of the Partnership and the Partners, both in the UK and Internationally.

Key responsibilities:



Reporting to the Tax Business Partner, this role is will support in managing the tax affairs of the LLP, and it associated LLPs, branches and subsidiaries. This role will assist the Tax Business Partner to varying degrees across all of the following:

Assistance in the preparation of annual income tax computations, including capital allowance calculations. Helping to manage the corporation tax affairs of our service company and ensuring payment of quarterly tax payments and dividend payments to the LLP Dealing with overseas aspects of our international entities, calculating double tax relief claims to be made via UK Tax Returns. Consideration of transfer pricing issues and profit repatriation. Liaising with the management accountants. Maintaining detailed income tax provisions for all partners, including deferred income tax provisions where appropriate. Acting as tax agent for c.150 UK partners, preparing and submitting Tax Returns on their behalf and liaising with HMRC. Review and varying levels of involvement in the same process for our International Partners. Dealing with partner queries regarding their own tax affairs and providing mortgage references when required. Calculation and payment of composite income tax payments in January and July each year and dealing with one-off payments where necessary. Liaising with other agents when required. Calculation of partner monthly drawings and ensuring these are paid on a timely basis each month. Advising partners and providing personal illustrations. Calculation of partner current accounts and distribution of annual statements. Dealing partner profit distributions ensuring accurate and timely payment. Calculation of partner capital requirements on HD agreed basis. Regular monitoring to ensure compliant with HMRC rules. Assisting our HR team with partner recruitment by providing drawings illustrations and capital calculations. Advising newly recruited/promoted partners on financial aspects of being a partner at HD. Providing one-to-one advice or presenting at partner induction sessions. Advising on partners leaving or retiring from the LLP. Preparation of Settlement schedules and advising re tax implication of their departure. Liaising with payroll and HR on employment tax issues. Providing future tax payment forecasts to assist with cashflow calculations, taking account of changes in legislation e.g. Basis Period Reform Advising on ad-hoc queries such as partner/employee mobility Maintaining and updating the Tax Risk Register to ensure we are fully compliant. Obtaining Certificates of Residence from HMRC when required and providing the relevant residence forms for international clients. Keeping up to date with upcoming changes in tax legislation and advising the FD as appropriate. Maintaining relationships with external advisors.

What are we looking for:

Important criteria:

Excellent knowledge of partnership and personal tax issues, including international issues Strong Excel spreadsheet knowledge including use of formulas (eg SUMIF, VLOOKUP and IF statements). Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, liaising directly with senior people in the LLP, partners, colleagues and HMRC. Willingness to self-develop taxation knowledge and keep up to date with latest taxation issues impacting upon the legal profession. Excellent organisation skills Experience using commercial tax software (ideally digita) although training will be provided if familiar with a similar platform.
It would be beneficial for you to have some of the following:

Experienced and Qualified Tax Accountant - CTA or ATT Previous experience with a law firm or similar professional services environment
