Position overview:

This role is covering many complex aspects within the tax and broader finance sphere, which includes significant international aspects, strategic decision making and supporting/leading ad-hoc global cross-functional teams.

The main functional components include preparing budget, quarterly and year end US GAAP group tax reporting deliverables, largely for the EMEA region as well as providing support on regularised and ad-hoc project work including, global repatriations, restructuring, transfer pricing, hedging and financing. Tax Manager is also supporting EMEA tax audit controversy investigations and has responsibility in UK tax compliance matters and working with Group Treasury on managing a large portfolio of cross-border intercompany loans, including withholding clearances and related compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the EMEA financial controllership and functional stakeholders to prepare, deliver and holistically manage the budget, quarterly and year end US GAAP reporting requirements
  • Identifying, monitoring, documenting and reporting EMEA based uncertain tax positions
  • Providing expertise and in-house consultancy, for resolving tax accounting issues within the EMEA region
  • Working closely with and providing support within a SOX control environment
  • Developing into a subject matter expert for CSC CorpTax, the Group\'s new global tax provisioning software
  • Extract and interpret data from the group consolidation system (HFM) and the group treasury system (Quantum), mostly in connection with foreign group companies
  • Preparing and submitting ad-hoc UK tax clearances, which for example may include SSE and the distribution exemption amongst others
  • Completion and filing of quaterly UK withholding tax returns
  • Assisting with aspects of UK and international planning projects (recapitalisations, capuital reductions, reorganisations, mergers, transfer pricing and other treasury tax matters)
  • Supporting the compliance team, as necessary, for input into UK CT returns, HMRC enquiries and statutory accounts preparation, along with any preparatory aspects for the Business Risk Review
Experience and skills required:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent; desirable CTA qualified
  • Qualified accountant
  • Post-qualified experience in varied corporate international tax environments
  • Proven experience in the regular delivery of complex tax consolidation reporting for interim and year end close exercises
  • UK corporation tax and International Tax
  • IFRS/US GAAP tax reporting accounting standards
  • Proven track record of advising on and implementing cross-border international projects within a large group environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including influencing, facilitation and negotiation
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Fluency in verbal and written English
