How you'll play your part
We're looking for a highly motivated individual, with excellent communication and time management skills, and a can-do attitude. This role is suitable for someone with experience of UK VAT compliance processes and controls, and a desire to develop into other areas of tax. Working collaboratively, you'll support the Tax Manager with the preparation and submission of relevant VAT, Employment Tax and Corporation Tax to stated deadlines, as well as general tax governance.
We're passionate about developing collaborative and professional working partnerships, something you'll be able to demonstrate when working with cross-functional teams and group entities to ensure tax efficiency and compliance. You'll be able to apply your strong analytical and research skills to support with completion tax requirements, such as PSA returns. When required you'll proactively provide internal consultancy services to the financial services division across all taxes.
What you'll do:

  • Prepare the quarterly VAT return for the financial services group of Mercedes-Benz, ensuring payment and filing on time
  • Support with the preparation and submission of the Corporation Tax returns and any related tax topics, together with quarterly installment calculation
  • Prepare and submit the PSA return for the financial services division and support on ad hoc queries throughout the year
  • Support other various Employment Tax topics, such as short-term business visitors
  • Support with Tax Governance topics such as SAO, CCO and publishing the Tax Strategy
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams and external advisors to ensure tax compliance
  • Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation
What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience as a Tax Specialist with a focus on VAT compliance and advisory
  • Strong knowledge of VAT legislation and regulations
  • Experience preparing VAT returns and managing VAT audits
  • Direct tax knowledge and/or experience welcomed
  • ATT qualified preferred but not essential
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly
