This is a mixed Academy for 1,300 students aged 11-18, with a large sixth form of over 300 students. You will be joining a dedicated Computer Science department where teachers and staff collaborate with schemes of work and sharing of best practice to support their talented students. The purpose of your role will be: To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated Computer Science teaching curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Computer Science teacher/form tutorTo facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential through the subject of Computer ScienceTo contribute to raising standards of student attainment within the Computer Science curriculumTo share and support the academy's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (or equivalent) and an undergraduate degree in Computer ScienceHave successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice), ideally including experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and of working in an 11-18 schoolUnderstand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learningUnderstand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutorHave knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at Computer Science KS3 and KS4, and of writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students' workBe able to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staffHave a good level of ICT skills, ideally including innovative use of interactive white boardsBe able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all studentsBe able to communicate positively with parents, carers and other external agencies where necessaryHave good written and spoken communication skillsBe able to lead and manage their own work effectivelyHave excellent time management skillsBe able to motivate students and raise their aspirations through a range of strategies If you are seeking a Computer Science teaching position within an exciting school in the Croydon catchment area, then please apply today to have your CV immediately reviewed.
