About the Role



The Sensory Impairment Support Service provides high quality support to children and young people with sensory impairments (Hearing Needs and/or Vision) in schools and colleges across the borough of Trafford.


We have a strong commitment to multi-agency working, inclusive education, high standards of attainment, and quality of life experiences for all our students. This post offers a diverse and stimulating range of duties with strong professional support.



We are looking for an enthusiastic, talented and highly motivated teacher to join our team. We currently have a part-time (4 day) fixed term vacancy within our team supporting children and young people with hearing needs to enable us to continue to build on our success and also bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the team. This post involves supporting the learning and inclusion of children and young people 0-25 years with hearing needs in a range of schools and settings across the borough.


Applicants must hold a DFE recognised teaching qualification.

You should be able to demonstrate evidence of further study and professional development in the field of SEND.

Additional Information



You would be expected:

To bring a specialist, professional approach to the support of deaf/hearing needs pupils in educational settings and homes.

To implement individual teaching and learning programmes, record progress and work with Specialist Support Assistants to evaluate the effectiveness of the programme.

To write ALPs, following guidelines, and to write summary reports for pupils.

To undertake relevant research and training specific to meeting the needs of pupils with deaf/hearing needs

To work co-operatively in classrooms alongside school staff along with individual or group support sessions.

To work alongside other professionals and attend relevant meetings if required by Service Manager.

To liaise closely with parents/ carers

To provide training to settings.

To encourage teachers and others to develop a high level of expectation both in and out of educational settings, and to be open to alternative teaching strategies to ensure the inclusion of deaf/hearing needs students.
