The Suthers School are looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join a warm and compassionate environment where every staff member makes a significant contribution to the experience of our students.
Your main responsibilities within this role will be:
Teach pupils within allocated classes, enhancing their learning and providing the opportunity for achievement for all pupils
Plan and prepare tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest during lessons
Monitor the academic progress of pupils and implement strategies to address underachievement
Assess, record and report on progress and attainment at KS3/KS4
Register attendance and set appropriate homework
Mark pupils' work and provide constructive feedback
Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and research new topic areas
Manage pupil behaviour and apply effective measures when necessary
Communicate with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole school training events
Engage in regular INSET and CPD opportunities
Undertake critical self-evaluation and contribute to continuous professional development
Additional responsibilities include:
Supporting the wellbeing, personal development and academic progress of pupils as a form tutor
Monitoring behaviour and uniform standards
Participating fully in the school's performance management system
Contributing to the wider life of the school through meetings and collaborative initiatives
