We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Qualified Teacher to join our Alternative Education Provision, accredited by the JCQ. The ideal candidate will be motivated to work as a key part of a small team, responsible for contributing to our unique and deeply pastoral learning environment, engaging students in the curriculum, promoting their personal and academic growth in a nurturing setting. This role requires a commitment to working holistically, and the ability to inspire students from all backgrounds, irrespective of barriers to learning, to achieve their full potential. You will have the ability to teach English at both GCSE and Functional Skills levels as well as the ability to teach other aspects of our curriculum offer, including BTEC Introduction to Vocational Skills, Level 1. You will have a natural intuition for students who learn differently to those in mainstream environments.
Duties
Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning needs.
Create a learning environment that allows students to feel safe, and encourages student participation and engagement.
Assess and evaluate student progress with a creative and individualised approach to assignments and observations.
Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate their progress to parents or guardians.
Work closely with colleagues to enhance teaching/pastoral strategies and share best practices.
Maintain classroom discipline and manage student behaviour effectively using techniques appropriate to sensitivities of cohort.
Participate in professional development opportunities.
Experience
A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) is essential.
Previous experience in a SEN teaching role is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative in lesson planning and classroom management.
Familiarity with various teaching methods.
The ability and desire to work as part of a small team.
