The Opportunity
In this role, you will be crucial to the success of the Health and Social Care program that the College offers to 230 students from across the East Midlands. You will join a dedicated teaching team that includes both newly qualified teachers and those with over 30 years of experience, all from diverse health and social care backgrounds.
You will work with learners primarily on our Level 2 and Level 3 Provision, and potentially other levels as needed. By delivering engaging teaching, learning, and assessment, you will help students gain a comprehensive understanding of the health and social care industry through subjects such as:
Understanding care values
Effective communication in health and social care
Human lifespan development
Safe working practices
Anatomy and physiology

About you
To excel in this position, you should possess strong interpersonal skills and be proficient in time management and organization to effectively handle multiple caseloads. You should have at least a Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care and relevant experience in the sector. Your expertise and experience in the health & social care field should inspire you to share your knowledge with the future workforce. Not a qualified teacher? Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.
Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
