If this matches your educational vision, then this is the perfect time to join the PE and Games department, which consists of our team of 5 teachers and additional games coaches, across our full range of facilities and Academic PE teaching spaces. PE and Sport is one of the many strengths of the school with high engagement in the classroom and commitment to co-curricular sport. It is a popular academic option, with strong numbers of pupils taking both GCSE and A-Level PE. Students have continued their Academic PE studies at university and we have a high number of pupils engaged in sport at club and academy level in the local area.
At both KS4 and KS5 we deliver the OCR GCSE and A-Level Physical Education specifications. We have a dedicated Academic PE teaching space, including an well-resourced fitness gym, pool, library access and online resources. Our GCSE and A Level results are outstanding, as you would expect from a school with high aspirations for all pupils. At King Henry's however, we believe there is so much more to education than simply exam results. PE and Games in an inclusive subject and believes strongly in enrichment; in all our teaching we aim to build evaluative thinking, confidence, independence and a lifelong love of sporting engagement.

We are a leading co-educational day school, providing a diverse range of opportunities for young people, from 11 to 18. We serve as the direct feeder school to King Henry VIII Junior School (HMC 3-11).
The school is located on the south side of Coventry, minutes from the railway station and with excellent access to motorways and bus routes.
Our intention is to provide our pupils with a superb education. We are proud of our rich heritage and tradition of academic excellence, which stretch back to 1545, but we are also forward-thinking and quick to adapt in a fast-changing world. We aim to discover each pupil's potential and to ensure that we help our boys and girls to develop fully in an exciting, challenging and supportive environment.
Entrance to the school is by examination. Entry at Sixth Form level is offered on the basis of GCSE results and interview.
The school offers a wide variety of academic and co curricular activities. Examination results are excellent; most students go on to University, with a significant number gaining places at Oxford and Cambridge.
Extensive computer facilities with a wide range of applications are increasingly used across all areas of the curriculum. plus a fantastic swimming pool complex.
Extra curricular activities include a variety of sports, played at high levels, music, drama, expeditions, The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, public speaking and debating, to name a few.

Working at King Henry VIII School
Staff are all well-qualified and enthusiastic, and have high expectations of themselves and their pupils. We received another outstanding inspection report in May 2023. The school has a strong reputation for pastoral care, and teaching staff are committed to co-curricular activities. Generous fee remission for the children of permanent staff is available at all Foundation schools (from age 3) subject to a minimum number of hours worked. There is an excellent and loyal support staff, who understand their vital role in contributing to pupils' growth and achievements. All staff benefit from free membership of our on-site Sports Club.
