We have an exciting opportunity within the Virtual School Sensory Support (VSSS) for a Teacher for the Vision Impaired.
The VSSS has a strong local and national reputation and delivers positive outcomes for children and young people who are blind, vision impaired and/or deaf. The service consists of Qualified Teachers, Specialist Support Assistants, the habilitation team and a technology/resources team.
Norfolk's VSSS is located within the Inclusion and Belonging Directorate and works closely with wider SEND and inclusion teams and services across Children's Services. Within the vision / multisensory impairment team there are several Qualified Teachers, Specialist Support Assistants and Habilitation Officers.
To be successful, you will be able to evidence a strong track record in positively impacting on outcomes for children and young people.
A willingness to undertake the mandatory qualification to become a teacher of children and young people with vision impairment is essential, as is an ability to demonstrate the skills and understanding to effectively step into this role. Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to plan creatively and work in partnership with parents, carers, educational settings and health and social care colleagues successfully are also essential for this role.
