Justteachers partner school is an Alternative Provision in Accrington, require a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full time temp to perm role starting immediately.

The school prides its self on giving every student the opportunity of a secure progression route in their learning and personal development, and prepares them to take positive steps into their futures, as successful and caring members of society. The school is a specialist provision for students with SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health); the majority of students are disengaged, reluctant learners who can show behaviours that challenge, often being referred to the school following trauma. As a result, the working environment can on occasion be challenging.

You will work with small groups of KS3 or KS4 students of all abilities, with a pupil centred approach to learning. The school offers learners a bespoke curriculum to incorporate their interests.

To succeed in this role, we are looking for an individual who can ideally demonstrate and fulfil the following key criteria:

Previous experience working with young people in an education, care or youth work setting A nurturing and supportive nature with good behaviour management strategies
You will ideally have:

Primary or Secondary experience is accepted Two education or school-based references Strong commitment for raising standards Experience but not essential working with SEMH Children Have high expectations for teaching, learning and behaviour The ability to engage with pupils and make an immediate impact on the pupils learning
