Job Summary



New Horizons Academy is an alternative education provision for children aged 5 to 11 and whose needs cannot be met within a mainstream environment. In particular, the Academy provides placements for young people in the Northamptonshire area who exhibit social, emotional and behavioural concerns. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our students within our educational setting. The successful candidate will work closely with children, including those with special educational needs, to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about education, mentoring, and making a positive impact on young learners' lives.

Responsibilities



Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning needs Support children with special educational requirements Provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to students requiring additional help Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere through effective communication and encouragement Help organise learning activities, resources, and classroom materials Monitor student behaviour and promote social skills development Support students during breaks, lunch periods, and extracurricular activities Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour as directed by teaching staff

Requirements



Prior experience working with children or in educational settings is desirable Knowledge of special education practices and working with individuals with additional needs Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, teachers, and parents Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment Relevant qualifications or training in special education or related fields are beneficial but not essential

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 25,185.00-25,583.00 per year

Expected hours: 33.75 per week
