St. Mary's Brymbo is set on the North Western outskirts of the town of Wrexham. The school serves the local community and the Alyn Mission Area of the church in Wales. There are approximately 130 children from three to eleven years old. At Sy Mary's Brymbo, they teach predominantly through the medium of English but with significant use of the Welsh Language

Vacancy description



As a teaching assistant at the school, you will support teachers and help children with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom.

Job roles will include:

Support pupils in Key Stage 2
2 days in Year 3 and 4, 2 days in Year 5 and 6, and 1 day between Years 3 to 6.

Support pupils with their language and literacy skills (read, write, inc.) Supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) Supporting pupils with their numeracy, literacy and ICT skills Support children in the various areas within the class Understand the safeguarding and behaviour policy and their role within these policies Promoting the Welsh culture Supporting a teacher in various roles within the classroom Support with afterschool provision which includes sports activities

Essential Criteria



An eagerness to learn more about becoming a Teaching Assistant A passion for working with children Possess relevant qualities including patience and communication A proactive individual Ability to always show professionalism Ability to listen and learn from more experienced staff Ability to always conduct yourself in a professional manner whilst working in schools

Desirable Personal Qualities



Any previous experience working with children Any previous experience with special educational needs (SEN) Communicational skills relevant to both children and adults Competent skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT Ability to self-manage and organise own time Personal qualities Reliable Smart appearance Professional attitude A level of maturity with working in a school environment will be required Desire to be a positive role model to young people
The Apprenticeship includes both on-the- job learning and off-the-job training which leads to nationally recognised qualifications

Qualifications



Minimum A*-C GCSE (or equivalent) in English/Maths.

Welsh speaking skills desirable

Level 2 NVQ Supporting, Teaching and Learning
