Are you a qualified TA with experience of teaching and supporting key stages 1 and/or 2 including those with Special Educational Needs?
Do you have a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and experience of teaching pupils with ASC, NLD, ADHD, SEMH and other complex needs?
We are looking for two proactive, resourceful and energetic SEMH SEN TAs to support children in key stages 1 and 2 across the curriculum.
You should be self-motivated with a creative approach to supporting teaching and learning. All support roles require individuals to have the skills to continuously improve the learning experience for our pupils. You should have experience of working with pupils with SEMH and other complex needs and understand what approaches work well and how building positive relationships are key.
A passion for inclusion and teaching and supporting pupils with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) challenges is essential.
These SEN Support Staff positions have been created to support the growth of the school and the needs of our pupils; it is a great opportunity to be part of a team providing the very best possible educational opportunities for our pupils within a nurturing and supportive setting.
Our 'Hive' Specialist Resource Provision
The Hive SRP [Wyke Inclusion Hub] opened in October 2024 to provide education for pupils aged 5 to 11 with SEMH and associated difficulties in accessing a mainstream classroom successfully. Some [but not all] pupils on roll have an EHCP and The Hive team use a therapeutic approach to support pupils with their individual needs and difficulties. Everything The Hive does is based on the formation and maintenance of positive relationships in order to build the skills and resilience needed to access mainstream classrooms back in the child's 'home school'.
As an SEN TA, you will work in an immensely rewarding, although sometimes challenging environment, contributing to supporting the development of social and emotional knowledge and skills; as well as facilitating smooth transitions into and access of the relevant curriculum. To truly meet their broader holistic potential and help pupils to be more connected, inclusive and compassionate within mainstream classrooms is a key aim of The Hive. Your contribution to the success of individual pathways will therefore be an important part of this role; working within a teacher led provision.
