Job Description

To support students in an alternative provision setting by assisting in the delivery of beauty therapy courses to students between the ages of 11-17 years old. The role involves fostering a positive learning environment, supporting individual students' needs, and ensuring they remain engaged and motivated in their education, particularly in beauty therapy subjects. To provide advice, assistance and support to young people, safeguarding their welfare at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:



? Previous experience as a beauty therapist or teaching assistant is highly desirable.

? Experience working with young people in an alternative provision, SEN (Special Educational Needs), or behavioural support setting is preferred.

? A recognised teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3) is preferred but not essential.

Salary and Hours:



? Salary: 15 per hour.

? Hours: Based on the position applied for. Term-time only Tuesday to Friday, from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about beauty therapy and education, with a desire to make a positive impact on students who may benefit from a non- traditional learning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities: Classroom Support:



- Assist other beauty therapy instructors in delivering lessons.

- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who require additional help with beauty therapy techniques (e.g.,Brows, Lashes, facials, makeup, nails).

- Prepare and maintain equipment and materials for practical sessions.

- Support students with practical elements of their course, including supporting the students with clients.

Student Engagement:



- Build positive relationships with students, encouraging them to engage in lessons and develop their confidence and skills.

- Engaging and supporting the students in all areas

- Support in elements of teaching which is inclusive of (but not limited to); all Level 2 & 3 salon treatments, Health and Safety in the salon/workplace, First Aid etc.

- Adapt approaches to suit individual student learning styles and needs.

Behaviour and Pastoral Support:



- Work with students who may face barriers to learning, such as behavioural issues, low self-esteem, or lack of confidence.

- Promote a calm and inclusive environment in the classroom.

- Implement behaviour management strategies as needed.

Administrative Duties:



- Tracking attendance daily and updating the schools with attendance via email/ TPC

- Speaking with parents and carers when the young person is not in attendance and encourage engagement

- Assist in tracking student progress and providing feedback when needed

- Completing daily logs which includes information on how the young person's day has gone and any concerns you may have.

- Ensure accurate records are maintained

- Ensuring Daily/Weekly/Quarterly/Yearly tasks are all up to date.

Collaboration and Communication:



- Work closely with all professionals to support the holistic development of students.

- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to discussions about students' progress and needs.

Health and Safety:



- Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed during practical beauty sessions.

- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the classroom, especially with tools and products.

To work as part of a team through:



- Being aware of the aims and objectives of the provision and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve them.

- Attending team/ staff meetings and making a positive contribution to them.

- Actively contributing to the development of the team.

- Receiving and storing information to improve communication.

- Being willing to give and receive feedback on performance.

- Being aware of EHCP for all young people and providing support by maintaining consistency in the execution of those plans.

- Monitoring the conduct of colleagues and referring on any causes for concern (Whistleblowing)

- Being familiar with all policies and procedures and adhering to them

- Understanding that there is a 1:4 student ratio and that there maybe times when you may be lone working.

General:



- Attending young people's meetings if and when required (typically via Teams)

- Driving your own vehicle when required. Mileage is paid.

- Receiving training appropriate to the role and ensuring that these are

completed with the agreed time allocated.

- To carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 15.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
