Commencing September 2025
Hove Park School is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant Role C position who will work within the Cullum Centre supporting students in KS3, KS4 and KS5. The Cullum Centre is a specialist provision for students with ASC and communication and interaction needs, which provides high-quality support, while allowing students to remain in a mainstream school setting. There are currently only 5 Cullum Centres across the country, making this a unique and rare opportunity to work within one of these provisions.
About the role
------------------
This is a great opportunity for those who want to develop a career working with students with ASC/Communication and Interaction needs or wish to progress into a career in teaching. The successful candidate will gain experience of working with a range of external professionals, including those from BHISS (Brighton and Hove Inclusion Support Service): Educational Psychologists, Specialist Teachers and Speech and Language Therapists. Working closely alongside colleagues from other agencies will also support candidates wishing to pursue careers in psychology, therapy and childcare. They will also have the chance to be involved in shaping a new and exciting provision in Brighton and Hove to support ASC pupils in their transition to adulthood.
This role will require staff to support students within lessons and at colleges around Brighton and Hove, enabling students to access the curriculum and make progress. Also, it will involve planning and delivering small group interventions focused on key skills including life skills and social communication skills. In addition, they will also be delivering mentoring sessions to support pupils with managing emotions and preparing for adulthood. A key part to this role is fostering positive working relationships with parents, which is vital in ensuring a collaborative approach to support.
The person appointed will truly believe that SEND is not a barrier to progress and that all young people can succeed. They will be passionate in creating an inclusive learning environment, where all students are able to succeed. Particularly desirable is, experience of managing students with complex needs and an ability to respond positively to challenging behaviour. In return, we offer a vibrant environment in which to work and opportunities for professional development including ASC and SEND specific training.
Hove Park School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Hove Park School celebrates diversity and welcomes applications from all areas of our community as we aim to have a staff body that is representative of our socially, culturally and ethnically diverse student population.
