Teaching Assistant
to support a
KS2 pupil with Autism and SEMH
needs on a
1:1 basis
. The child requires a calm, consistent adult who can build trust, support their regulation, and adapt learning to their individual needs.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusion and confident supporting children who may display distressed behaviours due to underlying anxiety or communication difficulties.
Experience with
autism
,
SEMH
, and
non-verbal communication tools
(e.g. PECS or visual supports) is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 classroom support for a child with autism and SEMH
Use structured routines, visual timetables, and positive behaviour support
Assist with transitions and help reduce school-based anxiety
Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement the EHCP
Help develop emotional regulation strategies and encourage peer interaction
Monitor and record progress and challenges daily
Ideal Candidate:
Experienced working with children with autism, ADHD or SEMH
Knowledge of PECS, visual supports, or sensory integration (desirable)
Patient, emotionally resilient, and confident with behaviour management
Values inclusive education and child-led support
Able to foster trust and consistency in a busy classroom environment
Open to training (Team Teach, safeguarding, autism strategies)
Requirements:
Child Workforce Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
Right to Work
Availability to start straight away 5 days a week
GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
1+ year supporting children with SEND or behavioural needs (preferred)
