The Role


We are looking for a kind, patient, and flexible Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will support children and young people 1:1 or in small groups, helping them feel safe, understood, and engaged. This role involves not just academic support, but also helping learners develop social-emotional skills, manage their emotions, and regulate their behaviour. You will deliver planned activities while adapting them in the moment using a low-arousal, child-led approach. Creativity, calmness, and empathy are essential.

Key Responsibilities



Support learners with Autism, PDA, ADHD, and other neurodiverse needs. Provide social-emotional support, helping students develop self-regulation skills and coping strategies. Identify triggers and implement strategies to prevent escalation and support emotional regulation. Deliver and adapt planned activities to match each learner's needs and emotional state. Create a safe, calm, and supportive environment in The Barn. Foster independence, confidence, and social interaction. Collaborate with the Evermore team, families, and other professionals. Record progress and provide feedback to the wider team.

Skills & Experience


Essential:

Experience supporting children or young people in mainstream or SEN settings. Understanding of Autism, PDA, ADHD, and neurodiverse learning profiles. Knowledge of social-emotional development and behaviour regulation strategies. Flexible, patient, and child-centred approach. Ability to build positive relationships with learners.
Desirable:

Experience in alternative or therapeutic education settings. Knowledge of low-arousal and anxiety-aware practices. Creativity in delivering multisensory, interest-led activities.
