The Role

At Wolgarston High School, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. Nestled in the heart of Penkridge, our school is a vibrant, inclusive community where students are encouraged to aim high, think big, and grow into confident, compassionate individuals. We are proud of our strong pastoral care, our commitment to academic excellence, and our culture of mutual respect and support.

We are currently looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and resilient Teaching Assistant with intimate care responsibility to join our dedicated team on a fixed-term basis. This role is specifically linked to external funding and is focused on supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those who require pastoral care and assisting with the physical/personal care of our students as and when required

This is more than just a support role--it's an opportunity to make a real difference in a young person's life. You'll work closely with our SENCo, class teachers, and external professionals to help students overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally. Whether it's helping a student navigate their daily routine, supporting them in class, or simply being a calm and reassuring presence, your work will be vital to their success.

We understand that supporting students with complex needs can be challenging, which is why we offer full training--including personal hygiene and care--delivered by experienced healthcare professionals. You'll never be alone; you'll be part of a team that values collaboration, empathy, and professional growth.

To be successful in this role, you'll need experience working with children or young people with additional needs, a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent), and a genuine passion for inclusive education. Most importantly, you'll bring patience, positivity, and a willingness to learn.

This role is linked to funding, working pattern is 08:30-16:30 Monday - Thursday and 08:30-16:00 Friday.
